Wait on the LORD

Weekly blessing from Psalm 27:14,

"May you wait on the Lord. May you be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

Wait for the Lord. After 13 verses the psalmist's final word in Psalm 27 is an encouragement to the reader to take heart from the psalmist's experience and to wait for God's deliverance in similar circumstances. Yet, "waiting" is far from sitting on the edge of the bed anxiously and nervously anticipating the Lord's deliverance. Rather, the psalmist instructs the reader to "be strong" and "take heart."

Be strong. Take heart.

These words take me back to the Book of Joshua. Prior to standing on the edge of the Jordan river God instructed Joshua:

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)

Ultimately, waiting on the Lord is an act of obedience. Go to the places where God has called you. If you find difficult there - don't retreat. Rather, be strong and take heart. Wait on the Lord as you obediently answer the call.

Blessings,
