The Harvest is Plentiful...

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out..." - Luke 10:2-3

I keep two ears of wheat in my office to remind me of this passage of scripture. I need to be reminded because it is easy to slip into complacency. I often find myself resting behind the comfort provided by the feeling of a leather Bible in my hands. I feel good when I read about salvation. I feel good when I read about grace.

Yet, the joy I find in salvation and grace must force me outward.

Even as I reread this first paragraph for errors it is easy to see that "I" dominate the conversation. The Gospel of Jesus Christ must move us outward. Self-examination is required of a Christ-follower, but we must never stay there. Our cities, communities, and neighborhoods are filled with people far away from God. We have been given the task to draw them closer. In fact, we have been sent out...

The harvest is plentiful.

The workers are few.
