Soren Kierkegaard, the 19th century Danish philosopher and theologian, once said:
"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."
Of course, he meant that hindsight is 20/20. We must have the proper perspective in order to truly analyze a situation or decision. That proper perspective usually only comes after the fact. Yet, we can't live while looking in the review mirror. We must move forward.
I think the Apostle Paul said it even better in Philippians 3:13-14,
"But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
