Bitter Made Sweet

There is a story nestled in the Old Testament that always makes me smile. It is often overlooked because it comes after the crossing of the Red Sea and directly before the manna and quail. It simply doesn't have the "wow factor" of these two stories. Yet, I like it nonetheless.

Moses is leading the Israelites from the Red Sea and they travel into the desert to find the water undrinkable. The people grumble about the bitter water and ask Moses, "What are we to drink?" Moses cried out to the Lord and as usual, God answered Moses. In Exodus 15:25 we find the rest of the story: "The LORD showed him a piece of wood. Moses threw it into the water, and the water became sweet."

God made something bitter into something sweet. God is in the business of turning bitter situations into sweet experiences.

I pray that you are crying out to the LORD and allowing him to transform your situations. If you are not crying out to the LORD, there is no time like the present.
